CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs head coach
Gavin McKinney announced the addition of former Mocs
Zoey Mize and
Caroline Ekern to the women's soccer staff.
Â
"I am excited to have Zoey and Caroline join our staff this fall," McKinney said. "They have both been a huge part of the most successful period in our program's history, and I'm excited that they'll continue to help move our program forward."
Â
Both were four-year starters for the Mocs and an integral part of the Chattanooga's 2022 Southern Conference regular season title.
Â
"They set new academic standards and helped create the environment we have today," McKinney continued. "They know exactly what this program is about because they helped build it.
Â
"Both had outstanding playing careers. Caroline is the most accomplished goalkeeper in program history, holding school records including career wins and clean sheets. Zoey finished her career as our all-time assists leader and was a top performer year after year."
Â
Ekern will serve as a graduate assistant and will work alongside assistant coach Katie Wright with the goalkeepers. Zoey will assist McKinney and assistant coach
Josie Rix with the field players and the day-to-day development of the squad.
Â
"More important than what they accomplished on the field is who they are as people," McKinney stated. "They care about others, they lead by example, and they understand the standard we expect every day. They are the kind of role models our current players can learn from.
Â
"I'm very grateful to have them on staff. They know our program, they care about our players, and I know they'll make a positive impact on our student-athletes every day."
Â
