Moctoberfest is a month-long celebration of Chattanooga Mocs men's
basketball. It includes historical moments, social media interactions and
introduction to UTC's freshmen among the myriad of video tributes and stories.
Day 15 introduces freshman guard Eric Robertson (Huntsville, Ala.).
Eric is a combo guard who played on one of the top prep programs in Alabama.
"Talk about a winner on and off the floor," said head coach John
Shulman. "Eric's run at Lee High School in Huntsville reminds you of Rico's
(Ronrico White) at Bearden before he joined our family. They learned how to
play the game and win at a high level.
"Eric fits exactly what we were looking for," Shulman added. "He can really shoot it, but he's a great
team guy. He can handle it like a point guard and has the size of a wing."
Robertson is a native of Huntsville, Ala., where he was a standout
for perennial Class 5A power Lee High School. He averaged 19 points, eight
rebounds and eight assists per game shooting 42.3 percent from three-point
range last year for the Generals.
He helped lead Greg Brown's charges to three consecutive Alabama
State Championship games bringing home the title in 2010. He earned 2012 first
team Class 5A All-State honors. Lee's record during Robertson's three-year
career was 77-30.
Robertson picked Chattanooga out of more than 20 scholarship
offers. He narrowed his choices to the Mocs, Wofford and Mercer. He is played
AAU ball with fellow freshman Farad Cobb for Winfred Jordan and the Atlanta
Xpress.
The son of Regina and Garland Robertson, Eric has an older
brother, Garland, Jr. He graduated sixth in his class of 150 with a 3.8 grade
point average and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Chattanooga opens the season Monday, November 12, against
