TICKET PROMOS FOR 3-GAME HOMESTANDThe Chattanooga Mocs ticket office is in the holiday mood. Prior to the break, the men's basketball program hosts three games in McKenzie Arena. For the Tennessee Tech (Tues., Dec. 15) and Kennesaw State (Fri., Dec. 18), general admission tickets are $2. The Radford game, an afternoon matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 22, has a ticket & meal deal with a $10 GA ticket including a meal voucher for hot dog, chips and fountain beverage or nachos, chili and fountain beverage. OPENING TIPS- Saturday is seventh contest of the first nine played away from the Scenic City. Mocs are 4-2 in first six away from home.
- Chattanooga is No. 10 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. Dayton is receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Top 25 Polls.
- UTC is looking for its first 7-2 start since the 2002-03 season. That squad opened 9-2 with wins at Samford (68-66), Tennessee Wesleyan (93-47), at Bradley (82-70), at Illinois State (75-68), Milligan (107-57), Furman (66-49), Samford (77-68), Lipscomb (87-78) and Weber State (75-63) with losses at UAB (92-83) and a narrow 89-84 home loss to Kent St. It was in Jeff Lebo's first season.
- Last three 7-2 openings? 2002-03 (9-2), 1993-94 (11-2) and 1987-88 (9-2).
- 11th meeting all-time with Dayton, just the second as a DI program (since 1977-78). UTC split four road contests at UD Arena in the last four seasons of DII membership (1974-77). HEAD COACH MATT MCCALL- Head Coach
Matt McCall is 6-2 in his first season as a head coach. He comes to Chattanooga from Florida where he was an assistant to Billy Donovan over the last four years. He is 4-2 on the road.
- First Mocs ball coach to start his tenure 3-0 since Henry Dickerson (1998-02, 72-73) in 1997-98.
- McCall is a 2004 graduate of Florida. He spent 10 seasons with Billy Donovan working as a student manager (2003-06), director of basketball ops (2006-08) and assistant coach (2011-15). He spent three seasons as an assistant to Mike Jarvis at Florida Atlantic (2008-11) culminating with a school-best 21-11 mark in 2010-11.
- McCall's staff includes a former head coach,
Reggie Witherspoon (Buffalo, 1999-2013), fellow former FAU assistant
Peter Gash and
Jesse Bopp, a former prep school head coach that most recently served as director of basketball ops for Shaka Smart at VCU. Former Gator SEC Legend
Eddie Shannon is the director of basketball ops, while
Jacob Kurtz is video coordinator after completing his playing career in 2015 at UF.

SCOUTING DAYTON- Dayton is 7-1 and receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Top 25 polls.
- Coming off 72-67 win at No. 16 Vanderbilt Wednesday night.
- Own wins over SE Missouri (84-53), Alabama (80-48), William & Mary (69-66), Iowa (82-77), Monmouth (73-70), North Florida (86-71) and Vandy. Lone loss is to Xavier (90-61).
- Archie Miller is in his 5th season with a 97-48 mark. First matchup with the Mocs.
- The Flyers have won 26 straight at UD Arena. They are 60-12 under Miller at home.
- UD holds opponents to 39.8 percent shooting from the field.
- Trio of double digit scorers: Charles Cooks (14.9), Scoochie Smith (12.8) and Kendall Pollard (12.0).
- Steve McElvene adds 7.3 points per contest while leading the squad in rebounding (8.0/gm), field goal percentage (62.2) and blocks (1.8).
