- UTC is looking for its first 11-2 start since the 1993-94 season. More on the start in the "Opening Tips".
- The Mocs are on a five-game winning streak. They're 5-0 in December looking for the first undefeated month since January 1997 (8-0). The last time the program was undefeated in December was 1983 (8-0).
- Chattanooga is 9-0 when out-rebounding opponents. Have won the battle of the boards in the last five with an average margin of 7.8. Check out the indicators on page 8 of the notes package.
- A win would provide
Matt McCall with the best coaching start in school history. Ron Shumate also began 10-2 in 1973-74.

OPENING TIPS- UTC is looking for its first 11-2 start since the 1993-94 season. That squad opened wins over USC Aiken (97-71), at Alabama (67-57), Columbus (81-70), Alabama State (104-88), South Alabama (85-69), Southern Miss (98-95), at Furman (82-81), Marshall (92-81), VMI (82-62), Davidson (80-70) and Western Carolina (78-68) with losses at No. 5 Michigan (97-86) and No. 10 Purdue (74-66).
- Last three 11-2 or better openings? 1993-94 (11-2), 1983-84 (14-2) and 1982-83 (12-2).
- 28th meeting between the two schools. Lipscomb leads 17-10. More series notes on page 4 of the notes package.
- UTC is 17-28 all-time against the current Atlantic Sun members (Jacksonville 2-8, Kennesaw State 5-3, Lipscomb 10-17).
- Second matchup with Atlantic Sun opponent this season. Beat Kennesaw State 78-66 on Dec. 18.
- Leading the SoCon in scoring margin (+9.8), FG% (47.6), 3pt% (39.6) and blocks (5.3). SoCon leaders for each statistical category as well as team standings are on page 7 of the notes package.

HEAD COACH MATT MCCALL- Head Coach
Matt McCall is 10-2 in his first season as a head coach. He comes to Chattanooga from Florida where he was an assistant to Billy Donovan over the last four years. He is 3-2 in away games.
- First Mocs ball coach to start his tenure 3-0 since Henry Dickerson (1998-02, 72-73) in 1997-98.
- McCall is a 2004 graduate of Florida. He spent 10 seasons with Billy Donovan working as a student manager (2003-06), director of basketball ops (2006-08) and assistant coach (2011-15). He spent three seasons as an assistant to Mike Jarvis at Florida Atlantic (2008-11) culminating with a school-best 21-11 mark in 2010-11.
- McCall's staff includes a former head coach,
Reggie Witherspoon (Buffalo, 1999-2013), fellow former FAU assistant
Peter Gash and
Jesse Bopp, a former prep school head coach that most recently served as director of basketball ops for Shaka Smart at VCU. Former Gator SEC Legend
Eddie Shannon is the director of basketball ops, while
Jacob Kurtz is video coordinator after completing his playing career in 2015 at UF.
Jordan Clark returns as graduate manager.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB - Lipscomb is 4-11 on the year with wins at Santa Clara (OT), Oakland City, Florida Atlantic and Cumberland (Tenn.).
- One common opponent in Tennessee Tech. The Bisons lost 81-78 at home to TTU, while the Mocs claimed an 80-69 win 10 days later.
- Casey Alexander is 33-43 in his third season with the Bisons, 57-79 in five overall (24-36 at Stetson). He is 0-1 against UTC.
- J.C. Hampton leads in scoring at 15.5 per game. Nathan Moran chips in 12.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest.
- Bisons shooting 38.4 percent from 3pt range making 10.9 per game.
