The Chattanooga Mocs (22-3/11-1) put their nine-game winning streak on the line at Western Carolina Thursday night on ESPN3.

- Chuck Ester grabbed five or more boards in each of the last four games (7.0 rpg) and 15 times overall in 2015-16.
-  In three games vs. WCU, Justin Tuoyo averages 17.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 4.3 blocks per contest.
- How balanced is the UTC offensive attack? 10 student-athletes have tallied double digits, all in multiple games: Tre' McLean (16 times), Greg Pryor (14), Justin Tuoyo (14), Eric Robertson (9), Duke Ethridge (7), Chuck Ester (7), Casey Jones (6), Johnathan Burroughs-Cook (6), Dee Oldham (2) and Peyton Woods (2).
- Ethridge is the top reserve in the post at 7.5 points and 3.5 boards in 16.0 minutes per game. He had 13 points and six boards at WCU last season
- Burroughs-Cook's posts 6.8 points and 1.3 assists in 14.8 minutes per contest largely at the one. He hit two key FT's in the final minute of regulation helping key the win at Mercer.
- Oldham is an energetic contributor at 6.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 16.9 minutes per game on the wing. 10 points including pivotal 3pt with just under a minute to go in regulation at Mercer.

HEAD COACH MATT MCCALL
- Head Coach Matt McCall is 22-3 in his first season as a head coach. He comes to Chattanooga from Florida where he was an assistant to Billy Donovan over the last four years. He is 9-3 on the road.
- First Mocs ball coach to start his tenure 22-3 or better. Next best through 25 games? 18-7 by Mack McCarthy (1985-86) and Jeff Lebo (2002-03).
- McCall is a 2004 graduate of Florida. He spent 10 seasons with Billy Donovan working as a student manager (2003-06), director of basketball ops (2006-08) and assistant coach (2011-15). He spent three seasons as an assistant to Mike Jarvis at Florida Atlantic (2008-11) culminating with a school-best 21-11 mark in 2010-11.
- McCall's staff includes a former head coach, Reggie Witherspoon (Buffalo, 1999-2013), fellow former FAU assistant Peter Gash and Jesse Bopp, a former prep school head coach that most recently served as director of basketball ops for Shaka Smart at VCU. Former Gator SEC Legend Eddie Shannon is the director of basketball ops, while Jacob Kurtz is video coordinator after completing his playing career in 2015 at UF. Jordan Clark returns as graduate manager.
 
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS           
- 9-15, 4-7 in the Southern Conference. They're 8-2 at home, 3-2 in league play.
- Coming off first road win of the year, 69-60 at VMI.
- Head Coach Larry Hunter is 164-184 in his 11th season, 673-408 in his 36th year as a head coach. He is 9-12 vs. the Mocs, 7-4 in Cullowhee.
- Mike Brown is the SoCon's third leading scorer at 17.1 points per game, just 0.22 behind leader Q.J. Peterson from VMI (17.3). 
- Rhett Harrelson (12.6) is second on the team in scoring converting 41.0 percent of his 3pt attempts. He paces the conference in 3pt made per game (3.0).
- Torrion Brummitt adds 12.5 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game.
- Justin Browning is the league leader in steals (2.2).

5 Notes from the Jan. 14 meeting in Chattanooga:
- Justin Tuoyo had a game-high 20 points making six-of-nine from the field and eight-of-11 from the free throw line. Second 20-point effort of the season with season highs for free throws made and attempted.
- Greg Pryor posted 10 points, four assists and a season-high five rebounds.
- Tre' McLean tied his career best of three steals while also recording 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
- Second-straight game with five in double figures – Tuoyo 20, Chuck Ester 11, Pryor 10, McLean 10 and Johnathon Burroughs-Cook 10 ... third time this season.
- The Mocs led by 21, 52-31, with 12:44 to play. Western battled back to cut it to 12 at 6:00, 58-46, on Harrelson's second triple of the contest. UTC put the game away with a 10-0 run over the next 121 seconds. Two Ester free throws were followed by three-pointers from McLean and Eric Robertson. Tuoyo put an exclamation point on the spurt with a slam off and a steal and dish by McLean.
