The Chattanooga Mocs (22-4/11-2) is facing their third second-place SoCon opponent in four games Saturday at ETSU.

- Chattanooga leads the SoCon at 11-2. ETSU (9-3) is second at followed closely by Furman (10-4) in third by percentage points, Wofford (9-4) is fourth, with Mercer (8-5) fifth and Western Carolina (5-7) sixth. Complete SoCon standings are on page 8 of the notes package.

- Third second-place SoCon squad the Mocs have faced in last four games (Furman, 62-54; at Mercer, 72-66 OT).
- Chattanooga is 10th nationally in winning percentage (.846).
- 22 wins in the regular season matches last year's total. Five shy of the school record of 27 set by the 1977 NCAA DII National Champions (27-5) and the 1982 SoCon Champs (27-4). The school record for wins in the regular season is 23 set by 1992-93's 26-7 SoCon Championship squad.
- 22-4 is the best opening to a season since 1982-83 (26-3).

- UTC has won nine of 10, 17 of the last 19 and 19 of 22.
- Last three 22-4 or better openings? There are only two: 1982-83 (26-3) and 1981-82 (27-3).

- Leading the SoCon in scoring margin (+10.2), FG% (46.8), blocks (4.7) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3).

- Greg Pryor is 11 assists shy of 250 and 13 points from 800 for his career.
- Eric Robertson is 24th in the nation in 3pt percentage (43.9%).
- Tre' McLean had a career-high 29 points in the first meeting with the Bucs this season. 21 came after intermissions.
- Chuck Ester grabbed five or more boards in each of the last five games (6.8 rpg) and 16 times overall in 2015-16.
-  In three games vs. ETSU, Justin Tuoyo averages 12.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per contest shooting 64.7 percent (11-17) from the floor.

HEAD COACH MATT MCCALL
- Head Coach Matt McCall is 22-4 in his first season as a head coach. He comes to Chattanooga from Florida where he was an assistant to Billy Donovan over the last four years. He is 9-4 on the road.
- First Mocs ball coach to start his tenure 22-4 or better. Next best through 26 games? 19-7 by Mack McCarthy (1985-86).
- McCall is a 2004 graduate of Florida. He spent 10 seasons with Billy Donovan working as a student manager (2003-06), director of basketball ops (2006-08) and assistant coach (2011-15). He spent three seasons as an assistant to Mike Jarvis at Florida Atlantic (2008-11) culminating with a school-best 21-11 mark in 2010-11.
- McCall's staff includes a former head coach, Reggie Witherspoon (Buffalo, 1999-2013), fellow former FAU assistant Peter Gash and Jesse Bopp, a former prep school head coach that most recently served as director of basketball ops for Shaka Smart at VCU. Former Gator SEC Legend Eddie Shannon is the director of basketball ops, while Jacob Kurtz is video coordinator after completing his playing career in 2015 at UF. Jordan Clark returns as graduate manager.
 
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS           
- 16-9, 9-3 in the Southern Conference. They're 10-1 at home, 5-0 in league play.
- Three straight wins the last coming Thursday in overtime over Samford. Eight in a row at home.
- Head Coach Steve Forbes is 16-9 in his first season at ETSU and as a four-year head coach. Forbes fashioned a 129-34 (.791) record in five JUCO (NW Florida & Barton Co.) seasons. He is 0-1 vs. the Mocs.
- 2nd in the SoCon in scoring (78.6) and FG percentage (45.9%).
- Ge'Lawn Guyn is the SoCon's leading scorer at 17.6 points per game. He's hitting 40.1 percent from 3pt range.
- T.J. Cromer adds 15.8 points per game and leads in assists at 3.0 per contest. He's hitting 38.8 percent from 3pt range and a team-best 81.1 percent at the free throw line.
- Isaac Banks averages 6.3 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game.
- Lester Wilson leads a dangerous 3pt attack (37.4% as a team-3rd in the SoCon) making 41.6 percent of his attempts, 45.2 percent in league play.

5 Notes from the Jan. 16 meeting in Chattanooga:
- The Mocs moved into first place in the SoCon race with a 94-84 win over ETSU tonight … UTC improves to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in league play with wins in 11 of its last 12 outings … ETSU had its six-game winning streak snapped to drop to 11-7 overall and a half-game back of the Mocs at 4-1 in SoCon action.
- Chattanooga took (36) and made (29) a season-high from the FT line.
- The Mocs started the second half on an 11-0 run and held ETSU scoreless for the first four minutes … Bucs got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
- Tre' McLean had a career-high 29 points … most since Z. Mason scored 30 against The Citadel on Jan. 6, 2014 … shot 10-15 from the field, 4-7 from 3pt range and 5-6 from the FT line.
- Justin Tuoyo added 20 points, six boards and a season-high six blocks … shot 6-10 from the field and 8-11 from the FT line … 3rd 20-point game of the season … second in a row … fourth in his career.
