Mocs look to get back into the win column with the Division II Tornado coming to town this Wednesday.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (2-3, 0-0 SoCon)
The Mocs have had many ups and downs to open the 2024-25 season, with UTC sitting at a 2-3 record to start off the campaign. After a 2-1 start that included a narrow, two-point loss to Tennessee Tech, the Mocs have now lost their past two matchups against Troy and Mississippi State, dropping the team below a .500 win percentage for the first time since 2022. One thing that Chattanooga has been able to consistently hang its hat on this season has been its defense, with the Mocs limiting their opponents to .362 field goal percentage and .211 three-point percentage while only giving up an average of 55.6 points/game. It's also been time for UTC's freshmen to continue to get consistent minutes and build towards becoming more regular contributors for the Mocs. The most recent standout for UTC has been Izzy McPherson, who scorched the net enroute to earning a new career-high of 16 points in Chattanooga's most recent game at Mississippi State. Sigrun Olafsdottir has also been a utility tool for the Mocs, stuffing the box score in just about every stat category one could come up with.

ABOUT KING (1-3, 0-0 Conf. Carolinas)
It's been a slow start to 2024-25 for the Tornado, as King heads into its matchup with the Mocs sitting 1-3 on the year. Following a season-opening loss at Limestone, the Tornado were able to notch their first victory of the year at home against Lincoln Memorial, winning the game 68-54. Since then, however, King has struggled to find its footing with double-digit road losses at Emory & Henry and UVA Wise. The Tornado will now have the tall task of taking on their first and only Division I opponent of the season in Chattanooga. King is led by senior Mariya Williams, who actively leads the team in points (12.3/game), steals (1.8/game) and blocks (0.8) while also ranking second in rebounds (6.0/game). Sarah Thompson has also been averaging double-digits to open the year for the Tornado, with Thompson currently sitting at a 10.5 points/game scoring average.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The last time these two teams met came on Nov. 6, 2023 in UTC's season-opener last season at McKenzie Arena. The Mocs absolutely ran away with the game, bulldozing the Tornado in an 88-32 rout. The win marked the seventh-largest win margin in program history, as well as UTC's highest-scoring game of the 2023-24 season. The all-time series currently stands at 2-0 in favor of the Mocs, with this marking the third consecutive season in which UTC has hosted King for a non-conference game.
