Ethan Vergara and the Chattanooga Mocs are off to Kent State for a Friday night fight with the Golden Flashes before Saturday’s Kent State Open.

The Chattanooga Mocs are off to Ohio for dual and tournament action this weekend. The squad faces Kent State Friday night before testing the field Saturday at the Kent State Open. It's the first trip to Kent since 2016.

The Breakdown
  • Chattanooga is the third SoCon opponent this season for the Golden Flashes. They're 2-0 against the league with an 18-16 win over Bellarmine on Dec. 11 at home and 20-14 over Gardner-Webb in Buffalo on Dec. 13.
  • Kent State won 10 of the first 11 matchups from 1987-2010. The Mocs are 6-1 since with six neutral site duals (5-1) and one on the road (1-0).
  • Junior Billy Meiszner at 149 came to Chattanooga from Kent State over the summer. He is out with a knock and unable to wrestle this weekend.
  • The two teams have one common opponent, No. 2 Ohio State. The Mocs lost 42-4 with Meisner's major being the lone win, while the Golden Flashes were flushed, 44-0.
  • Top dual mark by weight class is shared by 133, 165 & 298 at 4-2.
  • 285 Ethan Vergara leads the team with seven wins. Will Anderson (141), Cavarius Liddie (157), Billy Meiszner (149) and Ethan Uhorchuk (133) are all tied in second with six.
  • Coach Kyle Ruschell is 9-7 against MAC opposition, 2-1 vs Kent State.
