The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has a rich tradition of success in intercollegiate athletics. Over the years, the Mocs have won seven team and 26 individual national titles.
UTC’s first championship came back in 1966 when George Dickinson won the NCAA Small College Men’s Tennis Singles title. Three different Mocs took home six NCAA Division II wrestling trophies in the mid-1970s, while the men’s basketball team won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 1977.
The rest of the hardware belongs to the women’s tennis program, winners of six team and 19 individual championships. The Mocs won three-straight Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Small College titles from 1977-79 and three more NCAA Division II National Championships from 1983-85.
