ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs return home for a big double-header against Western Carolina on Thursday, Jan. 31. Both the men and women take on the Catamounts, with action beginning at 5:30 p.m. The men's teams take the court at 8:00 p.m.
Thursday's games are billed as a WHITE OUT, so be sure to wear your white UTC gear. White rally towels will be given away while supplies last. Gym-Masters from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn., are providing the halftime entertainment and State Farm is the game sponsor.
The Mocs are 8-1 at home this season and 4-0 in the Roundhouse in Southern Conference play. The only home loss was an 81-78 setback against Eastern Kentucky way back on Nov. 10 in the second game of the year. Three of the next four are at home for UTC.
The Mocs are trying to snap a two-time slide after a tough road trip through South Carolina last week. UTC lost at Furman (73-58) on Jan. 24 and fell at Wofford (80-69) on Jan. 26.
Freshman
Kevin Easley still leads the team with 14.7 ppg and 6.5 rpg. He had a 7-game double-figure scoring streak snapped at Furman, but came back with 14 points and eight boards at Wofford. He is averaging 16.2 ppg and 7.1 rpg while shooting 50% (21-42) in nine league games.
Junior Jerry Johnson put up some points on the road trip, scoring in double figures both games. He led the team with 19 points on 7-10 shooting, 3-5 from three and 2-2 from the FT line, at Wofford.
Both contests air on ESPN+ online and 96.1 FM in Chattanooga. Audio is also available on the TuneIn app as well as GoMocs.com.
There is another double-header just a few days away with the men hosting ETSU and women welcoming UNCG on Saturday, Feb. 2. Action starts with the women's game at 2:00 p.m. Home tickets are available at the link above or by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627). Also on hand for both games on Saturday are the
Zooperstars.
