CHATTANOOGA---The 2023 football season is upon us. The Chattanooga Mocs are deep into preparation to open the season Sept. 2 at North Alabama.
Â
The squad got exciting news with the release Wednesday morning of the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List. Running back
Ailym Ford and defensive back
Clay Fields III are on it looking to build on solid resumes built to this point in their careers.
Â
"It's a great honor," Coach
Rusty Wright explained. "The Senior Bowl is a premier event leading into the NFL Draft. That's where Cole Strange and
McClendon Curtis went the last two years providing them with the opportunities they now have in New England and Las Vegas.
Â
"It's a long season, and we're excited at the opportunities ahead for all of our guys."
Â
Ford is entering his fifth season at Chattanooga. He's amassed 3,443 yards and 32 rushing TDs over 32 games played which averages out to 107.6 yards and one TD per contest. The only 3-time 1,000-yard rusher in school history, he needs 12 scores and 659 yards to set new program standards in both categories.
Â
Fields is a grad transfer from Marist. He was an All-America safety for the Red Foxes in 2021 and was a 2-time first team All-Pioneer League selection. The 2-year starter scored on a pick-6 (70 yards) and punt return (89 yards) in his career in Poughkeepsie.
