Chad Copeland was the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year as a senior in 1994. He capped off a two-year career leading the Mocs to back-to-back SoCon regular season and conference tournament championships as well as back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Copeland sat out the 1991-92 season after transferring from Florida State but quickly established himself as one of the top scorers on the team as a junior. In 1992-93, he was 39-82 (47.6%) from three-point range, the second-highest percentage from behind the line in school history.
His senior year, he became one of just four Mocs to average over 20 points per game, posting a 20.1 mark in 1993-94. He was deadly from the free throw line, making a school-record 43 in a row at one point in the season. He shot 206-230 (89.6%) from the stripe, the second highest percentage in school history. He also had six-straight games with 20+ points to tie a school mark. He is the only Moc with back-to-back 30 point games and led the team with 48 steals.
Copeland was named the SoCon Tournament MVP after tying a school record with 76 points in three games. For his career, he averaged 17.7 ppg and holds the career FT% mark at 88.9% (281-316).
