chattanooga MOCS

Kathy Kolankiewicz was a two-time All-American and a member of two AIAW Division II National Championship tennis teams for the Mocs from 1978-81.  She earned he All-American honors when UTC won titles in 1978 and 1979. 

Kolankiewicz won the AIAW No. 4 singles title at the national tournament both as a freshman and sophomore.  She teamed with Elizabeth Sharp to win the No. 1 doubles title at the 1979 AIWA national championships. 

In 1980, Kolankiewicz placed fifth in doubles at the NCAA Division I National Championships. As a senior in 1981, she was the singles and doubles champion in Division I at the Tennessee state championships.

Kolankiewicz went on to a storied career as head women’s tennis coach at the University of New Mexico (1986-09).  She is the winningest coach in school history and a two-time conference coach of the year.
